Evangelism
Our Task
    • Helping outsiders become insiders
    • Helping forgetters become rememberers
    • Helping beloved children become belief-ful adults.
At Prince of Peace we are on a spiritual journey... learning about ourselves, about life and about God. While each person's journey is unique, the faith community is a place for sharing with and encouraging one another as we travel.

Many of the activities at Prince of Peace are what you'd expect to find in a Christian church - worship, education, music, art, outreach, and social events. In all activities, though, there is an underlying energy focusing on personal spiritual growth plus support from new and on-going friendships.

It's about life!
Like its members, Prince of Peace as an organization is on a spiritual journey. We're a large church and we’re growing with new families and single persons of all ages and backgrounds. We're open to the diversity that is part of our God’s good creation. We're striving to be a church that understands the richness and depth that comes from relishing our differences.

Membership Formation
Baptized Christians who are transferring their church membership to Prince of Peace are immediately received into membership as soon as the transfer is received. Thus, they automatically have all the rights and responsibilities of members.

Transferring members are invited to “Come As You Are” meetings. Here they will meet other new members and receive an orientation to the ministry of our congregation.

Persons who would like to be baptized, would like to renew an old faith commitment, or would like to become members of the congregation without transferring from another church, are invited to contact our pastors to be guided into their faith commitment.

The Membership Question
In the frenetic pace of our lives, we often sense that something is missing.  We yearn for God.

The question of church membership can become an obstacle to seekers.  The truth is church membership counts for little in the kingdom of God.  Jesus simply asks his disciples to, “Follow Me,” not, “Make sure your name is on a church roster.”  We invite seekers to practice following Jesus in this community called Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.  Your best “newcomers instruction” will be regular worship and joining in the other faith practices.  We are not fussy.  You may participate in the life of this congregation forever without becoming a member!

Some people find that church membership helps them follow Jesus with the faith practices of prayer, study, worship, service, and giving.  Because church membership is dedicated to this high purpose, it can be of value.
Pastors, Mike Woods and Kent Johnson will be pleased to visit with you about baptism, more in-depth study of the teachings of the Church, or becoming an active member of the congregation.  You may contact them at 895-4440.

Prayer Ministries
Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape
your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Phil. 4:6
    • For immediate prayer concerns our Prayer Chain is a network of people who will receive requests and thanksgivings and pray for them right away. To make your request known to the prayer chain email Sylvia Allen at:  This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it  or contact one of the pastors.
    • Advent midweek prayer services - a service of chants, readings, silence and candle light.
    • Come For Prayer worship services. A service of chant, readings and prayers for healing.

Hospital Visits
When you or someone in your family is hospitalized, please be sure that our pastors and parish nurses are notified.  With the shortness of hospital stays, without your help, we may learn of your admission just as your are on your way home.

Our pastors and parish nurses want to be able to visit you and share conversation, support and prayer.  We would also be happy to celebrate Holy Communion with you and your family in the hospital.  Occasionally, it would be more helpful to visit after your stay, once you have returned home.  Just let us know what you would prefer.

Whatever your needs, please continue to keep your pastors and parish nurses "in the loop."  We want to be able to share the love of God in word and action as your and your family meet health challenges.

Coffee Anyone?
Enjoy some non-electronic social networking.  Sign up with friends or meet someone new to serve coffee with.  A couple pots of coffee, visiting as you serve coffee to fellow parishioners, a little cleanup and that's all there is to it!  The green binder on the kitchen counter has all the tips and hints you need to make it a successful stress free experience.
