Mobilizing Women to ACT BOLDLY on their faith in Jesus Christ!
January Devotional: Romans 12:4-5
For as in one body we have many members, and not all the members have the same function, so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually we are members of another.
When I read these two verses, I think back to my high school and college classes that taught me about the human body. God created an amazing organism, each part has its own role to play in the way the body lives and functions, from the heart and lungs to the fingers and toes. Yet each part must interact with innumerable others to accomplish the myriad daily tasks that we take for granted. With all the different parts, we are still one person.
I cannot help but extend my thinking beyond the body and toward the world in all its diversity and complexity. We are all sisters in Christ, Women of the ELCA, but we are also connected around the country and around the world. We have different roles to play, but it is our interaction and connection that helps us to accomplish the grand task that God has set before us.
Women are resilient and powerful resources. We undertake tasks that are thought to be impossible. It is amazing how god can use each one of us to fulfill God's mission and purpose. God created us, literal bodies, yet we, are, together with Christ, are one body. Empowered by the Holy Spirit, we are determined to change the world.
